We loaded up the cachemobile and headed up north to the 2006 Spring Geocaching Picnic. It was held at the Salamonie River State Forest. This was an awesome facility! There were tons of trails... and the area was very cache-saturated. There were 11 event caches - 8 regular, 3 for kiddos. We found two of each. We let Amanda find them, and boy, you should have seen the look on her face. When she found the first one, you would have thought that she found a case of "Cringles" (Pringles are her favorite snack right now). She beamed and beamed. The kiddo caches had great swag inside for little ones. I think that when the kids get a couple of years older, we will have to plan a camping trip up there. There is a lot of hiking... most of which was a bit difficult when carrying 20 or 30 pounds of kid along. We were able to knock off several caches after leaving the picnic. Since we had never cached in the area, there were caches waiting for us everywhere! It was awesome!! I think that we logged 14 or 15 finds for the day. I'll try to post a couple of pictures later...
Oh, speaking of caching, we did go to Shelter III on Friday. No luck for us... no surprise there. There were five or six other cachers there. It was nice to visit with them. The shelter was really dirty... quite gross, in fact. There were bird droppings everywhere. I think this is a horrible health hazard. There were also wasps nests everywhere and bumblebees buzzing around. Amanda was a nervous wreck because of the bees. I don't think that we'll be going back to that one anytime soon. We'll leave it to the "pros".
Still no word from Georgia. We'll have to give them a call later today.
Amanda is doing this funny thing right now. Well, I guess that it's one of many. Anyway, she puts all of her leftovers in the fridge - even her goldfish crackers, Cheerios (dry ones), and Fruit Loops (dry ones). She also wants to save everything that she doesn't eat - cheese slices, toast, Pop-Tarts... Oh boy, a pack rat is born.
I'm not sure what we are going to get into today. Doug is in the process of moving the 75-gallon tank back into its proper place in the dining room. Hopefully, things will start to look "normal" in the dining room and kitchen areas soon. I did accomplish my goal on Friday of "finding" the kitchen again. It was quite a chore. Why do I let things get so out of control???
