As I type, I am looking out the window at the beautiful sunshine streaming in. It is supposed to be a great day here... with a slight chance of rain. But, for now, we will enjoy the sunshine!
We survived golf day yesterday... barely. Doug didn't get home until 8:50 p.m. I don't want to complain too much, but it really is a hardship to have a 14-hour day with two little ones. I must admit, when we were discussing wether or not Doug would play in the league this year, I said that I didn't mind. I was secretly hoping that he would say no, that he was just going to pass. I didn't want to be the bad guy. But, I went along with his decision. In the past, he's been home around 7 or 7:30 from his golf leagues. I figured that I could swing that... Boy, this is a huge change. Surely, I am not the only Mom who feels that way. I'm not sure what we can do about it though... just hang in there, I suppose.
James is a mad-man. I've really got to keep an eye on him. He is everywhere. He can easily crawl from the family room up into the dining room... and over to his ultimate goal - the cat food. I'm not sure how many times he's done it. He's getting really fast at it, too. At first, he would get side-tracked by the school desk and the toys that are underneath it... but not anymore. Those are yesterday's news. For now, he must get to the "triangle food". I tell him the same thing that I told Amanda when she did that (that he will grow a cat's tail). It doesn't deter him though.
I got the kids' pictures hung up in the family room yesterday. They look really good, but they would look a million times better if they were hanging on light brown walls instead of blue and green floral wallpaper - yuk! The wallpaper removal project is still stalled... but, seeing the pictures up there make me want to get back on it. We'll see...
Oh, and for now, the house is still clean! We've made it since Sunday!! Unbelievable. I've been making it a point to keep all of the dishes clean and pick up the house before bedtime. Those really have been my goals all along, but when you're dealing with a trashed house, it's almost impossible. At least now, I'm working with a relatively clean slate.
I would really like to get out and look at some plants at a local nursery or other store. Perhaps the kids and I can venture out later...
