Finally...

Sorry that I haven't been around for a couple of days. Everything is great... just really busy! We've decided on a time to go and visit Mendi, Dean and Anzie. Looks like we'll be incorporating it into our visit for one of our nephew's graduation open house. While the open house isn't directly on the way, it is five hours away from us... and, it will cut a little bit off of the drive time to Augusta. So... I only have to wait until Memorial Day weekend to go visit... Sigh. Wish that it wasn't that long.

Amanda got her first pair of "real" tennis shoes last night. She is so excited about them! Up until now, she has just worn Robeez. I love the Robeez... she does, too. But, this Spring since we've been out hiking and playing, I've noticed that she hasn't enjoyed walking on any terrain that wasn't flat and soft. So, we upgraded to a pair of white (with pink accents of course) Reeboks. They look adorable! I couldn't believe it, but she took a size 9!!! Wow, I knew that her feet were big, but geesh!

I was also able to get a few nice things for myself while we were shopping last night. I am not a big clothes person, but I was in pretty desparate need of a few things. I got two new pair of capris - one jean and one khaki... two pair of shorts - one jean and one greenish/khaki... and four new tops. I'm pretty excited about actually having some shorts that are nice and that fit. Lately, I've been wearing either a pair of Doug's Dockers shorts or a pair of my shorts that are who-knows-how-old and all freyed out at the bottom. Pretty sad... Amanda and I got a couple of garden things, too. She picked out a cat flower pot - reminiscent of Oscar. And, I picked out a dragonfly on a stick to stick in one of our flower beds. We all had a great time!

Speaking of gardens... Amanda and I worked in the hosta garden a bit yesterday. She cheered and picked out maple tree seeds for me to keep, and James watched from his stroller. I pulled some grass that was sticking up through the mulch. We then all went over to the veggie garden and began turning over the soil in it. Amanda was a trooper and helped a bunch with her little garden trowel. It was adorable. James finally had had enough... and, we all had to come in to get him down for his afternoon nap. It is great to be outside!!! (of course, today it is cold, windy and rainy...)

The fish troubles seen to have leveled off for now. We wound up losing Peacock and Big Daddy... and two of the teeny babies. "Yellow" is still in the hospital tank. I think that he is improving though. He seems to be eating... and looking a bit better. He lost half of his back fin. It should grow back quickly though. I'm always amazed at how resilient they are...

I get my hair highlighted tonight. I really tossed around wether to have it done or not. It is kinda pricey... but, it looks so nice after it is done. I don't think that I've had it highlighted for close to three years. Doug says to go ahead - just don't get it cut off!! He's paranoid about that. Honestly, I really liked it short. It was so much easier to take care of and cooler too. But, it's nice to have it at a length now where I can pull it back. So, I'm looking forward to some "alone" time at the hairdresser. I'll be taking along a Mary Higgins Clark book to read while my colors "set". Should be fun.
