Wow! I guess that Doug and I are doing something right... As we were pulling in the driveway tonight after a visit to Mom and Dad's, Amanda said, "Thank you for letting us visit Gwama and Gwampa." That was one of those awesome moments when you realize that things are really sinking in. I am pretty excited about that. Then, not half an hour later, Amanda informs me that deoderant is for armpits. I guess lots of things sink into her little head. She was hunting and gathering things under the bathroom sink while I was getting ready for bed. She found one of my deoderants and four (no kidding - I think that my first life was during the depression! Sometimes I just hoard stuff...) of Doug's deoderants. So, they, along with a sample of Pantene Conditioner, became a little "family". One of Doug's deoderants became the mommy to the Pantene... and it had to "nurse its baby" (exact quote from Amanda) back in the cabinet under the sink. There is never a dull moment.
We had a great visit with Mom and Dad. We all went out to eat at a Mexican place - awesome! I had way too much food (as usual). They had some pictures from the trip to Georgia. Mendi and Dean's place looks great. It will be a wonderful home for their growing family. Mom tried to take a belly photo of Mendi. Mendi is seven months pregnant and you can hardly tell... James had fun showing off his new teeth and getting lots of love and attention. Amanda had fun playing with all the toys and having books read to her... and, of course, getting lots of love and attention. At the end of the visit, James was having a total meltdown due to exhaustion. Amanda was running around the house full of "engery" (sounds like injury) sporting her new PJs. I'm sure that Grandpa's eardrums are still ringing...
The dining room project is still progressing nicely. Doug isn't sharing my enthusiasm... but, that's ok. I'm taking pride in actually doing all of the work by myself up to this point. The holes have been filled, and the walls have all been sanded and washed. There are a couple of spots that need a little more TLC tomorrow. After that the Kilz and paint go on.
