I'm a little bit later posting than I have been... it's kinda been one of those mornings. Nothing terribly wrong has happened, I just haven't had much free time to sit here and collect my thoughts...
Mendi and Dean had some excitement last night when they went out for some Chinese. Seems that as Mendi was walking into the restaurant, she noticed a truck with a glowing tire. About the time she figured out what was going on, Dean told her to "step away from the vehicle - it's on fire!" Luckily, it wasn't their vehicle. They phoned 9-1-1 for help and Dean served as the traffic director until the pro's got there. It was a Ford F-150... and apparently the other Ford F-150 parked nose to nose with it suffered some fire damage, as did a Honda Hybrid parked next to it. This coupled with a "recall meeting" Doug had to attend at work yesterday, has reminded us that we probably should get our Ford in for that nagging cruise control recall.
James has yet another new tooth! This brings the total to six!! He is still sleeping well through the night during this teething phase, but he has become much more needy during waking hours. While I get a bit frustrated with this at times during the day, I wouldn't at all trade it for the endless hours that we could be spending up at night rocking.
Since I've spent so much time the last few days tending to others, I felt that it would be fun to release some of my aggression on a destruction project around the house. I've been ripping some wallpaper - woohoo! There really isn't that much left in our house... now there is even less. I've gotten the left side of the hearth in the dining room completely cleaned... the first layer is off of the right side, but I need to wait until the 45-gallon fish tank is moved out of the way to finish my work. I think it will be nice to use the left-over off-white paint from our project last weekend to paint that area. And, what do ya know? Sometimes it pays to listen to your mother-in-law! We'd always used DIF for getting wallpaper off before, but we didn't have any today. So, I used what Doug's mom had suggested - vinegar and water. It worked like a charm!
Doug was such a sweetheart last night! He got home from work around 4:30 (early!). I had just finished trying to phone him at work to see when he was leaving, and no sooner, his car pulled in the driveway. He could tell that I was a bit frazzled, so he and Amanda gave me a foot massage... then, he let me rest - all by myself - for about an hour! When I woke up, he had made dinner for us! What have I done to be such a lucky woman?!?
Looking forward to the weekend...
