Here goes nothing...

Well, I've finally decided to take the plunge. After reading a couple of blogs on a regular basis, I decided that blogging would be a great way to document things that happen around our house. Thanks to a college friend who writes about funny happenings on her homestead and an ultra-conservative fellow geo-cacher for inspiring me! I have no idea how often I will write entries, but I have a feeling that it will be at least daily... so many things happen around here...

Right now we are dealing with a bit of sadness. We just found out that Oscar (our middle cat) has cancer. After talking with the vet today, we now know that our time left with him is more than likely measured in "weeks". I am praying that I will be able to get through this all with a relatively good amount of composure - not only for Oscar, but for the rest of our family. I'm not sure how we are going to explain this to Amanda... thankfully, James is too young to know what is going on. We are trying to decide on final resting plans for him. We don't want to make the decisions after the fact, when we will no doubt be grieving.

Mom and Dad will begin their trek back from Georgia today. They've been visiting Mendi and Dean helping them get their new home in order. From the pictures that I've seen, it looks like they were able to help out a lot. I can't wait to go visit...
