Grey Day

It's a very grey day here today. There have been several severe storms throughout the Midwest, and it seems as though we might be getting some here today. As for now, it is nice and warm. I have the window next to the computer open, and KC and I are enjoying the fresh air and the chirping birds. James and Amanda are sleeping... We had a rough night last night. Amanda had taken a late nap and wouldn't go to sleep when it was time to. Eventually, the bantering between the two of us woke James up. So, at midnight the whole family was up... two of us trying to convince the other two to sleep. I finally rolled into bed at 1:22 a.m.

Well, I think that we might be saying our goodbye's to Oscar this week. Yesterday, he couldn't keep any food down and had a couple of litter box issues. I told myself when all of this started that if he couldn't pee in the litter box, that would be a sign. Well, yesterday he peed on the linoleum in front of the pantry. Of course, now that that has happened, I'm making excuses - maybe the box was too dirty, maybe he was straining to poop, maybe it wasn't him that peed there... Doug and I talked about it yesterday and have decided that we'll probably have him euthanized this week. Doug has agreed to make all of the calls arranging everything... and, he's agreed to take him to the vet and stay with him until it is all over with. I'm so grateful for that. Today, Oscar seems to be doing ok. He did pee in the litter box over night and had some breakfast. So, perhaps today isn't the day...

We got the little dining room painting project done yesterday. Now, we are looking into painting the dark, dark paneling in there. We're trying to decide what to use to prime it... It seems that Kilz has several different formulas. Surely one of them will do the trick. And, as if that wasn't enough... we started ripping wallpaper in the Family Room - big mistake! The wallpaper was applied directly to the drywall. I have NO idea how on Earth we are going to get it off of there. I suggested hiring someone to re-drywall so that we could just start from scratch. Doug wasn't a big fan of that idea... I'm keeping it in my back pocket though. We took down the shelf that is between the Family Room and the Dining Room. It makes that area look taller. Maybe we'll actually have all of the wallpaper out of this house by the time our 10-year home ownership anniversary rolls around?
