Busy Day

We've had a fun and busy day today. The weather wasn't the best, but we tried to plan everything to maximize our efforts. Doug got up early and finished mowing and raking the yard. Boy, that grass is growing like nothing I've seen (since the grass that grew last Spring). I told him that we really need to mow it again on Monday to try and keep it somewhat under control...

While he was finishing that up, I took the bathroom hardware out to the driveway and spray-painted the first coat of paint on it. I was so pround of myself for the ingenious device to paint everything... a simple 2X4 and nails will do wonders. Of course, I still needed to flip some of the pieces over to do some touch-up work. Hopefully, I can finish that part up tomorrow. Then, I'll let everything dry really well before doing the second "pewter" layer.

Doug and I moved the hutch away from the wall in the dining room so I could continue the "paint the paneling" project. I washed it, de-glossed it, and got two layers of Kilz on it. I also decided to do the end of the bar in the kitchen. Might as well maximize the efforts of cleaning and kilzing. It needs to be painted sometime anyway. Right now, we are trying to decide if the end of the bar should be off-white like the cabinets or Kitty Hawk (light brown) like the paneling. I'm voting for Kitty Hawk, as the end really could be considered an extension/wrap-around of the paneling.

We needed to get out of the house and away from the paint fumes this evening. We headed out with the intention of going to "Save Big Money at Menards". However, we detoured to the other side of town first and hit three caches. All three were great hides and the entire gang was present for the successes. On the way to Menards, I decided that we needed to hide one for ourselves. I hid one... Doug tried to find it and never could. I guess that before we publish it, we need to go back and gather some more coordinates...

Finally, we made it to Menards and got some more paint for the dining room walls - which Doug opposes. He would rather they stay white instead of being painted off-white to match the walls (in the dining room) next to the bricks and the hallway and foyer walls. I think that I've worn him down though. LOL. He also doesn't want to mess with painting it because of the stucco-like texture. I told him that I would do it. All he needs to do is watch the kids. So, I hope to be able to make a first pass on those walls tomorrow... we'll keep you posted.

Mom and Dad should have arrived in Georgia today to stay with Mendi while Dean is gone. So far, no baby action.
