I'm sure that as one progresses through various stages of their life, the words that they dread hearing change. As a parent of young children, one of my dreaded phrases (especially when one of them is in the bathtub) is, "Oh, no! There's poopy in the water!!!!" I just had the pleasure of hearing that phrase and doing subsequent clean-up duties a few minutes ago. Now, why Amanda has no problem putting poopy in the bathtub, but won't tell me so that she can put it in the potty, I will never understand...
It is a beautiful day. Doug did a new geocache on his lunch hour. Apparently, there was a significant amount of bushwhacking required... and there was a significant amount of poison ivy in the vicinity. He quickly rushed home to take an alcohol rub... followed by a bleach bath... followed by a shower and a change of clothes. I think that he's pretty clean now. And, hopefully any trace amounts of poison ivy oil have been taken care of.
I mentioned to Doug yesterday that I wondered if the Emerald Ash Borer was named that because he was green... or because he liked to munch on Emerald Ash trees (if there is such a thing). He said because it was green. I then told him that I'd seen some bright green bugs around our house. I wondered if perhaps they were EABs. I looked them up on the internet today and haven't made my final verdict yet. The pictures of the EABs I found looked a bit like grasshoppers to me... but, I haven't found good photos of young ones. I know that there have been known cases of EABs in our county.
Doug's Sachertorte cake turned out great. Of course, with all of the regular household duties, we didn't finish it up and get a chance to dig into it until about 11:30 last night. At least it was still technically his birthday.
