We had a great time this evening. We all spent the entire time after dinner until dusk outside. It was wonderful. Doug finished mowing the yard, and even had some time to spend chatting with a neighbor. James, Amanda and I took a walk up and down (and up and down a few times) our street. Amanda insisted that SHE be the one to push James' stroller the entire time. When I tried to help her, she acted as if I had insulted her in the worst way. Boy, James is going to have it rough, isn't he? Two ladies looking out for his own safety and well-being. Poor guy. We enjoyed some quality time in the backyard, also... looking at the flowers, the leaves on the trees... all of those wonderful things that we long for during winter. It is supposed to be a bit cooler the next few days... but, boy these warm days we've been treated to lately have indeed been awesome!
Doug and I discussed some plans to paint the exterior of our house this summer. Of course, when Amanda heard the word "paint", she wanted to start right away. There is some wood that will need to be replaced, but we're going to tackle that on our own, too. How hard can that be... hmm, haven't we said that about every single project we've started? You'd think that by now we would have learned... I've also got some ideas about some landscaping that I'd like to do... nothing too big... just expanding one flower bed a bit and doing some work around our mailbox.
Oh, and on a landscaping note - the lilac is starting to bloom! Woohooooo!!
