We are back... The trip to Ohio was a bit of a whirlwind, but it was fun nonetheless. We met Doug's Mom and Russ at the Buckeye Hall of Fame Restaurant when we got there on Saturday. We ate and watched part of the Spring OSU Football game. The kids were great while we were there. They had lots of Buckeye memorabilia there - one of Archie Griffin's (or is it Griffith?) Heisman trophies and several of the recent football trophies. They had a fun gift shop where we did a little economy stimulation.
On Saturday evening, we went out to eat with Doug's dad. We went to an amish place in Plain City. I've got to be honest... Doug and I were both pretty disappointed with the restaurant. We had been there a few years ago and loved it. This time, as Doug put it, it was about one notch above an Old Country Buffet. We still had fun visiting with Doug's dad... and, again, the kids did great. Afterwards, we went back to Doug's dad's place and visited with him, Gina and Devon (the baby that they are raising - long story). Devon is an adorable little boy... it is too bad that the odds are definitely stacked against him. His mother is in jail, and his father... well, I'm not sure why he isn't raising him? He's probably better off with Gordon and Gina. But, that will probably end when the mother gets out of jail. Sad situation.
Yesterday, we went out caching in the morning after a swim in the hotel pool. We did three really nice caches in a couple of awesome parks. It was a perfect morning to be out caching. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping and the flowers were blooming. Both parks had super bike trails! Wish we had had our bikes with us... Anyway, we hit a milestone - cache #350!!! We all had a blast.
Lunch was at Doug's mom's house. It was fun. Most of the family was there. The little kids had an Easter egg hunt - the big "kids" helped out. There was talk of going to the Outer Banks this summer. They want to get a big house for everyone to stay in. Honestly, I didn't think it was a bad idea. Doug thought that I had lost my mind. From the sounds of things, Doug really doesn't want to do it, and I'm not sure that it would work with our schedule anyway. So, we'll just have to plan some other vacations for this summer... I just really want to go to the beach.
Oh, man. I just have to go and help Amanda look for her grey horse. Why is it that out of a million (or more) toys in this house, we HAVE to find the one thing that seems to have disappeared? A day in the life...
