Another Tree Down

Tree cutting folks showed up bright and early this morning to cut a tree down in the woods behind us. There are several evergreens that are back there. They are slowly being killed by all of the tree-trimmers hired by the power company over the past few years. When there is an ice storm, the tree cutting crews show up to cut branches down... every summer or so the cutters cut some more branches... we've probably lost four or five entire trees over the past ten years. Sad really. If they had just been left alone, they would all probably be alive. Sure, we might have had some power outages... but, I'd trade that for more healthy trees.

MOPS was fun today. I was about to throw the towel in and forget it. Seems like the forces were really trying to work against me. Amanda slept in late and James was fighting me every step of the way when I was trying to get him dressed. The traffic lights didn't cooperate either. But, it made my day when we pulled into church and Amanda announced that she was excited to be there. She had a great time in her class. They made kites and colored. James got his usual dose of loving from Miss Jenny. Fun was had by all. The speaker today talked about disciplining your children in a Godly manner. Boy, don't we all try to do that? It's tough. She also talked about how in the 70s, folks told parents to cater to their children... make them the center of it all. Now, there are record numbers of ADHD cases. Her theory (or the author that she referred to) is that children haven't been taught how to pay attention to adults. Hmmm. Makes sense. I've always thought that the ADHD label was used far too much and is a big cop out.

It is another beautiful day out there today. Perhaps we can do some yard work later today. We still haven't mowed... A neighbor came over yesterday to offer the use of his riding mower since our grass is nearly knee high - not really... I wonder if he thinks we will never mow?

A local news station had some quack on tv this morning talking about polyamory. Apparently, this is another cop out for folks who have unhappy marriages. Her take was that it was ok for married couples to have dates and relationships outside of their marriages to satisfy needs that weren't being met in wedlock. What a joke. Just what we need, more people making excuses for the horribly immoral society that we live in. I wrote a note to the tv station to let them know my opinion on the subject. Hopefully, others will, too.

Time to get lunch ready. Mac 'n cheese is on the menu. Yum.
