Fun Time Yesterday

Yesterday, I went to a luncheon for the man that I used to work for before I "retired" to become a SAHM. Mark is such a nice, genuine individual. He is BY FAR the best manager that I ever had while working at EDS. You always knew where you stood with him, and he was so honest and moral. You rarely get that in the world these days. Anyway, he is retiring in a matter of days, and they had a luncheon for him at the Brickyard Crossing Golf Resort. It was wonderful to see so many of the guys that I used to work with. Honestly, it felt as though I had just gone to work with them yesterday... and not said goodbye to them 4 years ago. That is a sign of true friendship, I think.

When I pulled into the parking lot of the resort, I heard an old but familiar sound... an Indy Car doing some practice laps at the Speedway. It has been years (literally) since I've been there to see a car go around the track. That certainly made me want to get back. Perhaps Doug and I can swing a visit there during May this year. I would love to take the kids also... if I could be assured that they wouldn't get their eardrums blown out and that they wouldn't see too much debauchery. In the good ole days, Doug and I would practically live at the track during the month of May. I don't know how many autographs I have from then... need to get out the old programs and look through them...

I talked to Mom today about watching the kiddos in June for me and Doug. Euge Groove is coming to town and Doug and I are both huge Euge fans. He's doing two shows one evening, so I think that we are going to be able to catch the early one. Can't wait... again, it's been years since I've caught any live jazz. I think that the last concert was the Smooth Jazz Christmas concert when Amanda was in utero.

Rain today... it is gray, but at least there is green on the ground and in the trees. Spring is definitely in full swing here. Yahoo!
